Painting depicting British (Irish) Private J

Painting depicting British (Irish) Private J. Boyd conquering a German machine-gun position, September 16, 1916. Artist: Harold Piffard.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! 😁🇮🇪🍀
Over 200,000 men from the island of Ireland fought in the British Army during the First World War, of whom some 37,000 - 49,400 died.
.
This painting, by British artist Harold Hume Piffard, depicts a Private J. Boyd from the Irish Guards Regiment in action at Thiepval Ridge during the Battle of the Somme on September 16, 1916, and has the following description:

"Private J. Boyd, of the Irish Guards, advanced, single-handed, and took an enemy machine-gun in flank, shooting one of the team and bayonetting another, while the officer bolted after receiving a blow on the head from Boyd's fist. He brought back the gun complete and, subsequently, was awarded the D.C.M (Distinguished Conduct Medal) for his conspicuous bravery."
.
I was unfortunately unable to find any other information on this Private J. Boyd, and whether he survived the war.
