Plus-sized protester strips NAKED at Bluewater shopping centre to demonstrate against mannequins being too thin

It is thought that she was taking part in an 'anti-fat shaming' protest
Police were called to Bluewater and the woman was escorted out
Shoppers were left stunned at one of the country's largest shopping malls when a naked woman exposed herself in a store window.

The plus-sized protester, who was wearing a blonde wig, posed as a mannequin at a branch of Dorothy Perkins in the Bluewater shopping centre near Dartford, Kent.

Police were called to the centre on Thursday evening and the woman was escorted from the complex.

She had been standing among mannequins advertising women's fashion and left the shop wearing a blonde wig from one of the dolls.

Witnesses described the woman's actions as a 'protest' but police later said that she had been 'passed into the care of medical professionals'.

One stunned shopper said the woman was standing there for at least 15 minutes before officers arrived.

The woman, who was not named, said: 'She was a large lady and was obviously making a protest about the skinny mannequins, but she took it too far.

There were kids around and to be honest nobody wants to see someone standing in the window of Dorothy Perkins with nothing on.'

Another, calling herself chloephil said: 'So today a rather fat fully naked woman appeared in the Dorothy Perkins shop window put one of the mannequin's wig on.'

Another local posted on Facebook: 'Well, gotta high 5 woman in Bluewater protesting for bigger models

Well done whoever you are, and too right. Why is there not bigger curvy models in our shop windows?'

A commenter added: 'Has someone lost their mother in Bluewater recently?! She was protesting for bigger models. You go girl!'

MailOnline has contacted Kent Police and Dorothy Perkins for comment.

In 2013, Lib Dem MP Jo Swinson called on stores to use plus-sized mannequins after finding out that most stores used size 10 and 12figures.

She said at the time: 'Many customers want to see more realistic images in magazines, TV and on the high street, and having mannequins that reflect and celebrate our diverse society is a really positive way of helping to achieve this.

'The images we see in the world of fashion are all pretty much the same - it's as if there's only one way of being beautiful
