A 40-year-old woman in China has taken revenge on her 18-year-old student boyfriend who she said had conned her – by streaking through the man’s campus. She was filmed walking around Jingzhou Institute of Technology in central China’s Hubei province in late May, flashing her breasts, before going to the gym and removing her underwear A student said the woman’s extreme behaviour was an act of vengeance directed at her boyfriend. The unidentified woman, posted on her now-blocked Douyin account, that the young man, surnamed Yang, had sex with her, swindled her out of money, and then ditched her.She strolled naked through the college grounds and buildings, shouting his name with the intention of causing him maximum embarrassment to ensure he would be “socially dead”. The school had not responded to the incident at the time of writingShe paid such a heavy price to get back at someone not worth it,” one online observer saidShe embarrassed herself more than her boyfriend,” said another. According to the Public Security Administration Punishments Law, people who deliberately expose themselves in a public place could face five to 10 days in detention. Other lovers’ revenge stories sometimes hit the headlines.Last year, a woman in northeastern China’s Jilin province drove her car around, while a loudspeaker played messages on a loop about her boyfriend’s behaviour. She said he claimed he was a company boss, but disappeared after spending her money and making her pregnant. It is also common to see banners with messages condemning cheating lovers.Last year, a wife in southern China’s Guangdong province discovered her husband had been cheating on her. She hired wedding singers, made a banner with his and his lover’s names on it, along with a damning message creating an embarrassing scene in public. But such moves by vengeful wives can get them into trouble.According to Chinese law, people who display insulting banners are regarded as disturbing the public order. They can face a warning or a fine of up to 200 yuan (US$28).
