Filipino transwoman in viral video claims trial to obscenity charge
KUALA LUMPUR: A Filipino transwoman, who was captured on video strolling naked in the city centre last week, was charged at the magistrate’s court with making lewd gestures in public.
Kent Caburnay Acuin, 29, pleaded not guilty to the charges, which were read out in English before magistrate Rahni Kartini Abd Karim.
Acuin, from Cebu, was accused of causing a public nuisance by being naked and climbing onto a Honda City Sedan in Jalan Sultan Ismail, Dang Wangi, about 10.40am on March 13.
The charge under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 carries a maximum fine of RM100, if convicted.
Deputy public prosecutor Nurliyana Mohd Jafri did not offer bail to the accused.
The court ordered Acuin to be held under remand and fixed April 22 for mention.
In the incident, members of the public had recorded the antics of a transwoman, who was seen running and dancing naked in the middle of the road.
At one point, the individual was seen climbing onto the roof of a car that was stuck in traffic and making lewd gestures
