Archaeological excavations in ancient Tenea reveal rare coins, Hadrian’s aqueduct, and a rich historical complex


A team of researchers has unearthed a remarkable treasure trove and significant ancient ruins in Tenea, an ancient Greek town near Corinth. The recent excavations revealed a portion of the Hadrianic aqueduct, a monumental hydraulic structure from the 2nd century CE, near the Roman baths along the Karkana River.

Accompanying this monumental discovery was an extraordinary treasure comprising 29 rare silver ancient Greek coins, dating from the late 6th century BCE to the 330s BCE

Alfred Vivian Minchin (27th of January 1917 –  February 1998) was a British merchant seaman captured on the 28th of March 1942 when the SS Empire Ranger, a cargo ship that was part of a Murmansk convoy, was sunk off Norway by German bombers.
