I live in a developing (read: still lots of houses being built) rural middle



 class planned community. There are a few animals who are known to roam the neighborhood and have done so for several years. They belong to residents and have collars, tags, a good reputation for being friendly and affable, not trouble makers at all. My cat is one of them. Another well-known cat was shot in the face by a BB gun and had to be put down a few weeks ago. People are fucking scumbags, man. No two ways about it.

Someone shot a beautiful pony in much the same way over here in Richmond. So sad.
I had to put down my 10-year-old Pyr just a couple weeks ago, and my heart really breaks for the owner. They're such sweet, gentle dogs. Unreal that people can be so cruel.

On this day, 5 May 1818, Karl Marx was born in Trier, Germany. Living until the age of 64, Marx was a journalist, revolutionary socialist, philosopher and economist, and one of the most influential figures in world history.  He inspired hundreds of millions with his works, including Capital which, over a century later, remains the most incisive critique of the capitalist system.  Though his wife was from a wealthy background, Marx and his family often lived in abject poverty, and four of their children died in infancy.
