 A few years back this was attempted in KwaZulu Natal South Africa causing billions of Rands damage. The organisers are known and are still free as the government is scared to take them on and charge them with treason. The government refers to it as "unrest" It was attempted insurrection/coup.

Free from Slavery: African Americans in the Civil War In his January 1, 1863, Emancipation Proclamation, Lincoln permanently freed all slaves in all areas then in rebellion against the United States.
