You came naked, You will go naked.

You came naked,
You will go naked.
You arrived weak,
You will leave weak.
You came without money and things,
You will leave even without money and things.

Your first bath? Someone washed you,
Your last bath? Someone will wash you.

This is life!!!

So why so much malice, so much envy, so much hate, so much resentment, so much selfishness and so much pride?why, when we have to go empty handed?

BE KIND… We have limited time on Earth don’t waste it in uselessness

One of the biggest scams in the English language may be the term “nude

Image
One of the biggest scams in the English language may be the term “nude.” It brings to mind the “flesh”-colored Crayon of decades past, a peach hue that definitively did not describe all skin tones, much less most skin tones, yet was audaciously marketed as doing so. (In fact, that same shade is now called “peach.”) There’s a similar issue with purportedly nude-colored pantyhose, nylons, tights and the like. Nude for whom? Often, nylons that claim to be nude feature only one shade, a beige tone that only denotes nude coloring for white folks. We’ve compiled a list of sheer nylons that actually feature shades that cater to all skin tones, with budget picks and splurge-worthy options that reviewers swear by. The investment is sure to be worth it, especially since many of these picks are not only delightfully soft and comfy, but are also surprisingly rip-proof. And if you’re not yet a hosiery devotee? You may soon be. They help keep you warm in cold weather, make some folks feel more put-t...

Today in Hampton History 1861 - Confederate troops systematically

Image
Today in Hampton History 1861 - Confederate troops systematically  burn the entire town of Hampton. Brig. Gen. John B. Magruder issued the order after reading a letter from U.S. Maj. Gen. Benjamin F. Butler, printed in the New York Tribune, outlining plans for self-emancipated “Contrabands”* to settle there.  Butler’s dispatch also argued that Freedom Seekers escaping slavery should be treated as free men, women, and children entitled to the “free enjoyment of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Magruder, enraged at Butler’s plan to “colonize them [the Contrabands] at Hampton, the home of most of their owners,” ordered local troops under Capt. Jefferson Curle Phillips to lead the burning.   Inhabitants of the entire Hampton Roads area were astounded at the glow and flames, visible for miles. The next day, Butler called the Burning of Hampton a “wanton and unnecessary act” for which he could not “discern the strategical importance.” Contrary to Magruder’s ...

The colony of **Jamaica gained independence** **from Britain** on 6 August 1962. In Jamaica, this date is celebrated as Independence Day, a national holiday. The island became a Spanish colony in 1509. The Spanish carried out ethnic cleansing operations against the indigenous Taino people. In 1655, British forces took the island and it became a British colony.  The British brought many thousands of slaves from Africa and forced them to work on British plantations in Jamaica. Over the years, some slaves escaped and joined the Taino in the mountains, forming a society which the British called “Maroons”. The Maroons won a war against the British (1728–1740), but lost a second war (1795–1796). In 1834, slavery was abolished, although life for the 300,000 Jamaican slaves changed very little as the British still held all the land, wealth, power and privileges. In the late 19th and early 20th century, the economy was changing; sugar declined and the banana trade grew. Many old sugar plant...

Who are this Sea People a Naval Raiders from the late bronze age?

Image
Who are this Sea People a Naval Raiders from the late bronze age? They are considered one of the major contributing causes to the bronze age collapse,  which saw the decline and fall of several ancient civilizations around 1150 - 1250 BC. The Luwians are ideal candidates to be Sea People, or at least to lead them, since they were in fact a sea-going people who controlled the most important seaway of the eastern Mediterranean, and who could be organized enough to mount a long distance campaign. Also, the fragment found at Ugarit says that the city could not defend itself because all the troops were in the land of Lukka. Why were they there? Because the Hittites and Luwians were at war. According to dust and pollen sediment studies in Russia and Britain, among other places, there was a widespread drought in Eurasia, accompanied by global cooling around this time. The raiding of tribes from the north turned into a flood of desperate people, with everyone taking advantage of the pressu...

Throwback to the remarkable history of the Dominican Church of the Annunciation in Vittoriosa.

Image
Throwback to the remarkable history of the Dominican Church of the Annunciation in Vittoriosa.  During a heavy WWII attack, the church suffered immense damage, losing invaluable historic and artistic treasures. The ornate nave, adorned with delicate paintings by Lazzaro Pisani, the sacristy, and most of the priory were destroyed. Remarkably, the dome remained suspended on three pillars until heavy rains two weeks later caused its collapse, erasing two years of artistic work by Gian Battista Conti before it could be fully appreciated. In this photo from DOI archives, the Church's Dome is in fact missing.  The resilient Dominican community returned in December 1942, and the church was finally completed in August 1960.  Today, it stands as a testament to perseverance, with its stunning artworks by Emvin Cremona, Rafel Bonnici Calì, and Ganni Vella continuing to inspire.
