A group of friends from Manjummel visits Kodaikanal and then Guna cave
A group of friends from Manjummel visits Kodaikanal and then Guna cave. One of them, Subhash falls into a zigzag like pothole. How the friends, police and fire force
collectively did the impossible task?.
In the first 20-30 minutes, Chidambaram introduces us to the gang- Their fight, tug of war and daily jobs. Though it may feel bit insipid, trip begins and soon the pivotal incident occurs.
The best part about the gang is that they never lost hope even after knowing about the history of the place. In a scene before rescue mission, Deepak Parambol's character replies to Soubin's character Kuttan, "Nee erangilengil njan eragum". Chidambaram managed to brilliantly portray the selflessness, resilience and optimistic attitide of the gang. He never tried to limit the scope to rescue mission alone. Focus of the narration shifts to the aftermath of the traumatic incident as well.
Whole technical team deserve huge round of applause for their hardwork. Sushin Syam's scary score, Ajayan Chalissery's set,and Shyju Khalid's frames have the capability to take the viewers to the marvelous visual experience. There is an instance where a character drops a stone to the cave and observes the sound to determine the depth of the cave. That scene conveyed the complexity of the rescue mission. Chandu Salimkumar's scenes could have been trimmed. Other than that, Vivek Harshan's cuts played a key role in making the narration gripping.
Soubin gave a standout performance as Kuttan, veteran in the gang. Srinath Bhasi was superb in carrying the trauma of Subhash. George Mariyan too was notable in his character who supported he gang throughout the mission. Actors who played the roles of cops were effective too. Special mention to the actress who played Subhash's mother. The climax scene where she conveyed the gratitude (without dialogue) to Kuttan was so memorable and surely one of the emotional moments in this movie.
Verdict: must watch from big screen
