ALERT: Dead Woman’s Corpse in Ibadan Yet to be Evacuated for over 24 Hours

The remains of a dead woman is yet to be evacuated from Wema Bank area along Gbagi-Iwo Road Expressway in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

According to Hammed Hamzat, an eyewitness, the corpse has been there for over 24 hours “without receiving any attention”.

“I saw it this morning on my way to work,” he said. “I learnt she died on that spot on Sunday morning after foaming in her mouth. People in the neighbourhood only put unused tyres around the body to restrict access to it.”

Hamzat added that “prompt evacuation is needed to avert the hazard it may constitute to the environment”.
FIJ understands that the neighbourhood where the corpse is lying is one of the busiest in Ibadan.

A branch of Polaris Bank is located at the junction and there is an inter-state public transport park opposite the bank.

The popular Gbagi Market is also situated a few kilometres away.

Taiwo Adisa, the Chief Press Secretary to Seyi Makinde, the State Governor, said he was not aware of the incident but promised to inform the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Environment for evacuation.
