A group of women sparked surprise outside Argentina's national congress when they shed their clothes and strolled around completely naked in a protest about objectifying women.

The members of the Urbanudismo campaign are calling for the acceptance of the naked female form, saying their actions are neither sexual or provocative.

The protest lasted several minutes until police were called because it was making passers-by 'uncomfortable' - including one man who looked especially awkward when approached by a naked woman.

She said supporters are taking action in order to take ownership of their bodies, and defy limitations on public nudity.

The protesters were eventually approached by two police officers, one of whom reportedly told them: 'This is no way to demonstrate.'

One unnamed policeman told the newspaper: 'We came up here because there are many people who complained and felt uncomfortable with this situation.'

The Urbanudismo movement is in favour of breastfeeding in public, and freedom of expression,  and says public nudity 'will please many, not harm or offend them'.
