Naked woman slashes three during Pittsburgh-area street fight

PITTSBURGH - Pennsylvania authorities were searching on Tuesday for a woman who, apparently nude, stabbed and slashed other women in a street fight at a public housing complex outside of Pittsburgh.

The brawl on Monday was captured on cell phones and security cameras, showing the woman wielding a knife and wounding three people, two seriously, according to Allegheny County, Pennsylvania Housing Authority Police Chief Mike Vogel.

The woman, identified as La Keysh Collins, 41, of Pittsburgh, appeared to be nude, but Vogel said it was unclear whether she joined the melee clothed or naked.

Her clothes could have been ripped off in the fight, he said.

"She appeared to be fully naked, but the footage was kind of pixilated," he said. "The cameras don't necessarily tell the whole story."

Collins was being sought on charges of aggravated assault.

Vogel said the other women in the fight at the McKees Rocks complex received disorderly conduct citations

The “Bay Tree” egg

Image
The “Bay Tree” egg; was presented to the Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna by her son, Emperor Nicholas II, on Easter 1911.⠀ ⠀ The motif of the evergreen laurel, symbolizing immortality and glory, was not chosen by chance - that year marked 30 years since Maria Feodorovna’s accession to the Russian throne.⠀ ⠀ The crown of the laurel tree is egg-shaped and consists of 325 leaves carved from Sayan jade - a stone that, due to its remarkable plastic properties, was especially loved by Carl Faberge and was used to create many of his company's masterpieces. A golden songbird is placed in the jade crown of the tree, whose mechanism was made so well that it works perfectly to this day.⠀ ⠀ Empress Maria Feodorovna had a weakness for birds, and Faberge, knowing this, often supplied Easter gifts intended for her with mechanical birds. History of slavery and early colonisation in South Africa

History of slavery and early colonisation in South Africa With colonialism, which began in South Africa in 1652, came the Slavery and Forced Labour Model.  This was the original model of colonialism brought by the Dutch in 1652, and subsequently exported from the Western Cape to the Afrikaner Republics of the Orange Free State and the Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek. Many South Africans are the descendents of slaves brought to the Cape Colony from 1653 until 1822. The changes wrought on African societies by the imposition of European colonial rule occurred in quick succession. In fact, it was the speed with which change occurred that set the colonial era apart from earlier periods in South Africa. Of course, not all societies were equally transformed. Some resisted the forces of colonial intrusion, slavery and forced labour for extended periods. Others, however, such as the Khoikhoi communities of the south-western Cape, disintegrated within a matter of decades. Initially, a colonial c...

The ball turret on the American B-17 bomber plane

The ball turret on the American B-17 bomber plane, 1943, World War IIThe gunners operating this was forced to assume a fetal position within the turret with his back and head against the  rear wall, his hips at the bottom, and his legs held in mid-air by two footrests on the front wall This left him positioned with his eyes roughly level with the pair of light-barrel Browning AN/M2 .50 caliber machine guns which extended through the entire turret, located to either side of the gunner. Read more The cocking handles were located too close to the gunner to be operated easily, so a cable was attached to the handle through pulleys to a handle near the front of the turret.  Another factor was that not all stoppages could be corrected by charging (cocking) the guns. In many cases, when a stoppage occurred, it was necessary for the gunner to "reload" the gun, which required access to the firing chamber of the guns. Access was severely restricted by the guns' location in the small...
