Naked woman spotted in Mong Kok streets,



 taken into custody for medical examination7th November 2023 – (Hong Kong) Law enforcement authorities received reports of a naked woman wandering along Nathan Road in Mong Kok. Witnesses observed the woman holding a cardboard sign above her head, prompting multiple passersby to alert the authorities. After an extensive search, the individual was eventually located near Sai Yeung Choi Street South, and she was promptly taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a medical examination. The case has been classified as an incident involving a person with a suspected mental disorder.

  John Kimber was the captain of a British slave ship who was tried for murder in 1792,  after the abolitionist William Wilberforce accused him of torturing to death an enslaved teenaged girl on the deck of his ship. Kimber was acquitted, but the trial gained much attention in the press. The case established that slave ships' crew could be tried for murder of slaves.Publicity about the case contributed to growing opposition to the African slave trade, which the British parliament prohibited in its colonies by the Slave Trade Act 1807.In 1791, John Kimber was the captain of Recovery, a slave ship of 189 tons (bm) from Bristol, England.[1] The Recovery travelled from Bristol to New Calabar in West Africa, where it collected approximately 300 slaves who were to be sold at Grenada in the Caribbean. The First Liberian Civil War ended in August 1997 when Charles Taylor took power as the President of Liberia.  Taylor had initiated the war when he and his militia, the National Patriotic Front of Liberia (NPFL), invaded the country from the Ivory Coast to overthrow President Samuel Doe in December 1989. The NPFL rapidly conquered most of Liberia except for the capital Monrovia, which came under the control of the Independent National Patriotic Front of Liberia (INPFL), a splinter group led by Prince Johnson. The INPFL captured and executed Doe in September 1990 and resisted attempts by the NPFL to take Monrovia, denying Taylor an outright victory and prolonging the war for years. A peace agreement was signed in 1996 between the major factions and resulted in the 1997 Liberian general election.
