Nasarawa guber: Akwanga women go topless to protest alleged rigging


Women in Akwanga Local government Area of Nasarawa State, Friday, stripped themselves half-naked to protest the outcome of the governorship election in the state.The women, who were in black attires had placards emblazoned with different inscriptions. They claimed their mandate was stolen, noting that their votes must count.They equally insisted that INEC must revert the result of the governorship in Nasarawa in the interest of peace.

It would be recalled that tension continued to mount in Lafia and some parts of the state following alleged rigging of the guber election.

Women protesters demanded, among other things, the cancellation of the governorship election, causing traffic gridlock.
They were escorted by the security agencies deployed to forestall break down of law and order in the local government area.

It would be recalled that Governor Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was returned as the winner of the election after defeating the People’s Democratic Party, PDP’, candidate,’s David Umbugadu, with 64,193 margin

Alfred Vivian Minchin (27th of January 1917 –  February 1998) was a British merchant seaman captured on the 28th of March 1942 when the SS Empire Ranger, a cargo ship that was part of a Murmansk convoy, was sunk off Norway by German bombers. The Murmansk convoy was an Arctic convoy that delivered war supplies to the Soviet Union. The Battle of Mount Ortigara (June 1917)  was not the largest or most costly battle on the Italian front, but for nineteen days in June of 1917 it was a microcosm of mountain front's warfare and the terrible attrition of the Great War. Ortigara is often called "the Calvary of the Alpini" with its useless sacrifice of Italy's finest troops. In a determined offensive on the Trentino Plateau, Italian General Ettore Mambretti seized strategic Monte Ortigara. However it was quickly retaken by Austrian General Artur von Mecenseffy in some of the bloodiest alpine fighting of the war.
